Located in the heart of the city but wearing a glum look, the Pravasi Gruh run by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) might finally get a facelift.
Sources said the VMC standing committee has decided to clear funds of Rs 17.12 lakh to refurbish the Pravasi Gruh located near the railway station.
“Often there would be complaints from tourists putting up in the guesthouse about the dilapidated condition and the dingy look of the place. But hopefully, with the funds sanctioned by the VMC, things will change for the better,” said an official involved with the functioning of the guesthouse.
In fact, the dingy hotels in the station were accorded the first priority instead of the Pravasi Gruh. “Despite being located in a prime area, the tourists come to the Pravasi Gruh after running out of options. We now expect more tourists once the project gets completed,” he said.
VMC is now planning to paint the entire premises and also repair the damaged portions. “We are trying to make it an attractive option for the tourists,” the official added.
