BANGALORE, NOV 20: India’s state-run Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), the leading Internet service provider, has offered free Internet time for its subscribers who contribute aid for cyclone victims in Orissa state.
More than 9,600 people have been killed and some 15 million left homeless by the cyclone that struck the eastern coastal state, one of India’s most impoverished, on October 29.In an e-mail appeal sent to VSNL’s subscribers, its chairman Shailendra Kumar Gupta said the devastation of Orissa was "complete and absolute".

Gupta said VSNL will offer free Internet time to contributors to the Prime Minister’s relief fund. Those contributing Rs 5,000 ($ 115) would get 25 hours of Internet time from VSNL.
