Though defending champion Anil Wadia bounced back at the Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally here there was no stopping overnight leader Sunny Sidhu. Day Two saw Delhi pro Wadia jump two spots to take the second spot behind the overwhelming favourite Sidhu.

The Chandigarh pro took an unassailable lead with 1:26.58 penalty points, six adrift of the second-placed Wadia. For the driver the second day proved quite taxing. The bumpy ride forced at least six vehicles to pull out of the competition.

But for Sidhu it was almost a

cakewalk. He began the day with 19.06 penalty points, stayed well ahead of the rest of the field. Wadia, on the other hand, was benefited when the organisers upheld his ‘request’ to calculate his timing again. This re-scrutiny meant Wadia got the second spot.

Aniruddha Jain, who was third after the first leg, was relegated to the 12th spot after a lacklustre show in his Esteem. With the timings of 3:00.09, he has a tough task on hand on the final day.
