In Defence circles, this is one cyber war that is being closely tracked. What was meant to be an innocuous poll meant for ex-servicemen — hosted on the IAF’s official website, it sought viewer opinion on whether the much delayed Light Combat Aircraft would be able to replace the aging MiG 21 on time — has blown into a full scale battle of clicks. At last count, the poll had logged over 2.5 lakh votes with 65 per cent batting for the LCA. Popular Defence discussion boards on the internet are urging users to visit the link and vote in favour of the project lest the “Pakistanis” and “foreign vendors” steal the initiative. The only catch: a user can vote as many times as he or she desires.
