A local court has issued bailable warrants against Reliance Industries’ chairman Mukesh Ambani and directed him to appear before it on December 2 in connection with a criminal complaint filed by a consumer for allegedly not issuing him a mobile phone connection despite the latter depositing the amount with the application.

Chief Judicial magistrate Ajay Tewatia issued the warrants on a complaint filed by Bhupinder Singh, a resident of urban estate, Hisar. Singh had applied for a cell phone connection on February 16 this year, deposited a draft for Rs 3,000 and submitted 12 post-dated cheques of Rs 1,800 each. Reliance had

encashed one of his cheques for Rs 1,800 on May 5 this year without the connection. He said the company later issued him a mobile set, but did not activate it.
