Warrants of attachment against Haryana in accident claim case

CHANDIGARH, May 27: UT Additional District and Sessions Judge M. R. Batra today issued warrants of attachment against the State of Haryana through secretary transport for recovery of compensation granted to an accident victim’s family.

The court had earlier directed the payment of Rs 7,52,000 to the widow and children of a junior engineer, Chhabil Das Jain, who had died in an accident with a Haryana Roadways bus in 1994.

The compensation had been awarded after the court had held the driver guilty of negligent driving.

An execution petition had subsequently been filed by the legal heirs.The attachment of vehicles, furniture, air conditioners and fans had been sought in the list.
