PUNE, 09: Chairman, Computer Society Of India & IT Committee of MCCIA believes that New Year’s eve is special.

Says he, “First January 2000 12.01 night would be a landmark in each one of our lives. I am planning a get together of close friends along with the family members on the millennium midnight. We will be watching the sky, counting stars in a countryside near Pune. Of course amidst the fun, the curiosity of what will happen to the billions of lines of Program Code patched in the last 5-6 years globally will keep haunting me. I do sincerely hope that January 1, 2000 will be a normal day in the day to day life and business all over the world.

The next day to be watched for IT Catastrophe is February 29, 2000. IT industry all over India will have a reason to party if the Cyberlaws boosting E-commerce are passed in Parliament. That will amount for a separate celebration. I also hope that no Cyberthief takes inspiration from Catherine Zeita Jones and Sean Connery in the famous movie, Entrapment and tries to steal billions of dollars of Cybermoney on January 1, 2000.”
