Asked to emulate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s example, other BJP chief ministers said that they were equally good. Reporting to the national council on their governments, BJP CMs on Monday portrayed a picture of all-round development and claimed that the party’s popularity was on the rise. Said Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, “We are as good as anyone else. Last time we had won 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state, next time we will win all the 25 seats.”Narendra Modi, on a high after his resounding victory, did not enumerate his administrative achievements — leaving it as an obvious. Instead, he went on to state that all BJP-ruled states were governed well. Modi, spoke with a national perspective, putting the onus of controlling terrorism on the Centre. “Border security, communication network, finance and banking are the responsibility of the Central Government. If these three areas are secured, terrorism can be put under check,” he said. He also showered praises on L K Advani. “Advaniji is the greatest gift given by Atalji to the party. Nobody else knows this country as good as he knows it,” Modi said. All chief ministers accused the Central Government of step-motherly treatment. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Centre has refused timely allotment of PDS grain to his state. The party national council amended the BJP constitution to reserve one-third of the posts in the organisational structure for women. Once implemented, the 81-member national executive of the party will have 27 women in it, compared to the present 13. The national women cell chief will be a member of the central election committee.
