Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday called the Pradhan Committee, appointed by the Maharashtra to look into the Mumbai terror attack,a farce and demanded that Ajmal Amir Kasab and Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru be hanged.

Thackeray said a delegation of Shiv Sena leaders will meet the President to press for these demands. The Pradhan panel report in the 26/11 case and the Kasab trial are taking people away from the original issues, Uddhav said in a statement here. The Pradhan panel has given a clean chit to police in the 26/11 case. Does the panel want to suggest that Kasab did not kill the police officers but they committed suicide? he questioned.

Uddhav said the Kasab trial is a waste of public money. The Government is spending a lot on Kasab, like the Rs 2-crore tunnel,Rs 6-crore van, hefty fee to lawyers and all this is being done through public money, he said. Uddhav also objected to the media frenzy over what Kasab and said: This is as if there is a competition to make him a hero.
