26/11 trial: 7 accused in Pak hire new lawyers

The accused have hired Islamabad-based lawyers to defend them in the case.

The seven Pakistani accu-sed in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks case,including LeT commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi,on Sunday appoi-nted two new lawyers to carry forward the long-delayed trial,a day after advocates Khawaja Haris and Riaz Akram Cheema separated themselves from the case citing personal reasons.

The accused have hired Islamabad-based Zahid Hussain Tirmizi and Raja Rizwan Abbasi to defend them in the case being heard by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad.

All the seven accused Lakhvi,Abdul Wajid,Maz-har Iqbal,Hammad Amin Sadiq,Shahid Jameel Riaz,Jamil Ahmed and Younas Anjum were arrested in July 2009 for their alleged role in the November 26,2008 attacks in Mumbai in which 166 people were killed.
