Three of the four accused in the Mira Road gangrape case,who were absconding,have been arrested.

The arrests were made on Sunday and Monday. Umesh Bhoir (22),allegedly featured in the MMS clip that the accused had made while raping the victim,was arrested from the Vasai area on Sunday. The other two identified as Dilip Patil (27) and Pritam Mhatre (19) were nabbed on Monday.

ASP Maithili Jha (Rural Thane) said,“Out of the seven absconding accused,we have arrested six and are conducting inquiries to trace the seventh.”

The three arrested in the past two days were produced in the magistrate court which remanded them to police custody till June 29. Officials from the Mira Road police station had initially arrested three youths on Friday night after a complaint had been filed against them by a 19-year old college student from Bhayandar. She had accused them and other four youths of allegedly gangraping her at a lodge in Vasai after the prime accused,Parag Mhatre,befriended her seven months ago and promised marriage. She was taken to Vasai where she was allegedly gangraped by him and his four friends.
