The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Friday turned out to be yet another ritualistic exercise as the top decision-making body of the ruling party only repeated what it has been saying on price rise since 2006. There were the same suggestions and the same demands as have been made at several CWC meetings in the past over three years. R K Dhawan got nostalgic as he started recollecting measures initiated by former prime minister Indira Gandhi, including the Price Control Act,to contain inflation. As the meeting got over, senior leader G Venkatswamy got up and thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for what she had done for Telangana. His smiling party colleagues whispered to him that it was premature to thank her as he should first wait to see the creation of the separate state. At least one senior leader voiced what was perhaps on everyones mind. Kerala leader K Karunakaran, who has been waiting for long for the party to take a call on the re-induction of his son K Muraleedharan, was heard saying,What a waste of time!
