‘Akhilesh same as Mulayam’

“The SP’s party flag on vehicles has become a licence to commit wrongful acts,” she added.

Two months after Akhilesh Yadav wrested power in Uttar Pradesh,BSP president Mayawati said on Saturday that his government was no better than that of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Addressing a press conference here,she said: “Be it Mulayam Singh or his son,there is no difference. Both have similar thoughts.”

Criticising the SP government for scrapping 26 schemes started by her,she said this reflected its “anti-Dalit” bias. “While the developmental works have come to a halt,the law and order situation has deteriorated so much that people fear for their lives,” she said. “The SP’s party flag on vehicles has become a licence to commit wrongful acts,” she added.

Mayawati alleged that the SP government was trying to deflect public attention by trying to initiate inquiries into all the works carried out by her government. “My party has always fought against corruption. I have no objections to inquiries if they are carried out without any casteist and political bias,” she asserted. She also alleged that the SP government was harassing BSP workers.

UP MLC quizzed in CMO murder case

LUCKNOW: BSP MLC Ramu Dwivedi and a close associate of a gangster-turned-MP were brought face-to-face by the CBI on Saturday and questioned about their alleged role in the murder of CMO V K Arya. The MP’s aide is from Vikas Nagar where Arya was shot in October 2010.

Sources said Dwivedi admitted that the MP’s aide was a frequent visitor to his flat and also to the MP’s residence. The CBI has found that the shooters who executed Dr Arya’s killing allegedly spent the night before the murder at the suspect’s house. Next morning,they had called Dwivedi and the MP immediately after the murder.
