In the backdrop of the Mayawati-led UP administration trying to proceed with the FIR against SP general Secretary Amar Singh for an alleged Rs 500 crore fraud, superstar Amitabh Bachchan has questioned the motives behind the report. He termed the First Information Report, which also names him,an apparent move to deliberately malign and damage big names.
Posing about a dozen questions regarding the episode leading up to registration of the FIR against Amar Singh on October 15 at a rural Police station at Babupurwa (Kanpur),the actor has asked in one of his recent blog posts whether the UP Administration was corporate illiterate in having allowed such an FIR.
Is it a fact that on studying the papers, the administration discovered much to its dismay that all proper legal procedures had indeed been followed by the person against whom the FIR was launched? That clearances from the Income Tax Department, the Company Law Board and the Honorable High Court of Kolkata had been obtained? And that finding itself in an extremely embarrassing position, washed its hands off the case and sent it to the Police Department of Kolkata for further action stating that the matter did not have jurisdiction in the state of UP?, he wrote in his blog post on October 22.
Was the administration corporate illiterate to not have observed these facts before? Bachchan asked in his blog post. Citing the procedures involved in the amalgamation of companies,Bachchan has also questioned the competence of the rural police station to deal with such a matter.
In his blog,Bachchan described the episode as a deliberate act aimed to malign the name of big people. Bachchan also wondered in the blog why the state administration swung into action to provide immediate police protection to the complainant (Shivkant Tripathi) just for the submission of the FIR.
