Almost five months after Delhi Police registered a case of sedition against writer Arundhati Roy,Hurriyat leader SAS Geelani and four others,a status report was filed in a city court recently. In the report,the police said that the allegations made in the complaint against the accused regarding anti-India speeches were true and they needed more time to file a detailed report.
In the report filed before a Delhi court,the police said they were yet to question Roy,Geelani and others named in the FIR but had interrogated Sushil Pandit who was a complainant in the case.
Delhi Police had registered a case last year following a directive from a city court on a petition filed by Pandit.
Pandit alleged that the accused made anti-India speeches at a conference on Azadi- the Only Way at LTG auditorium in New Delhi on October 21,2010.
We filed a status report in the court. We called the complainant and recorded his version again. None of the accused have been questioned yet, said KC Dwivedi,ACP (New Delhi).
The police said so far they have not arrested anyone as the formal interrogation was yet to begin.
The next date of hearing in the case is on July 5. Police said the report was filed after taking legal opinion from various experts.
