Arya is on cloud nine after Madrasapattanam. The film, set mainly in Chennai of the pre-Independence era,was directed by Vijay,of popular films like Kireedom and Poi Solla Porom (a remake of Khosla Ka Ghosla). Made on a grand scale,it was about how love blooms between a rustic Tamilian and an English girl. The film has won critical acclaim and is doing well at the box-office too.
Though Arya rose into being a top-rung actor only after Naan Kadavul,it is with Madrasapattanam that he has managed to impress the critics.
Chikku Bukku,one of the forthcoming
It may be recalled that the film was recently in the news when the producers Media One Global Entertainment and Majestic Multimedia Limited had accused Arya of not cooperating with the dubbing for the movie. The differences, anyhow, have been amicably settled and the film is getting ready for release.
Orissa HCs verdict on film
The Orissa High Court completed hearing on the PIL pertaining to THE controversial Oriya film Swayamsiddha on Maoists and reserved its verdict to be pronounced at a later date. A division bench of Chief Justice V Gopalgowda and Justice Indrajit Mohanty on August 18 heard in details the arguments of the petitioner and defense counsels after a report was submitted by an expert committee stating that the film in totality has no wrong message for the youth. Alleging that the BJD MP Siddhanta Mohapatra-starrer movie was propagating the outlawed Maoist ideology,BJP youth leader Bibhuti Jena had submitted a PIL in the HC to ban the film that was released across the state recently. The petitioner had also alleged that the big-budget movie was financed by dubious financiers and sought a CBI probe into its source.
The HC had set up a committee, comprising the police commissioner of twin cities and lawyers involved in the case,to watch the film and submit a report whether it was violating any provisions of the Cinematography Act. The PC,in his report, mentioned that though there are some slogans and scenes in the movies that are anti-establishment,in totality there is no wrong message for the youths in the cinema. The BJD MP is playing the role of a Naxal Area Commander in the film.
