Punjab and Chandigarh have got retail outlets at Chandigarh Airport and Amritsar International Airport for in flight shopping and mail order catalogue shopping.
Amit Chopra,Managing Director of AVA Merchandizing Solutions Private Limited said here that the company plans to open 50 retail outlets during 2012-13. As at present the company has opened retail outlets at 32 airports across the country. The company registered a turnover of Rs 25 crores in 2009-10 and in 2010-11 it went upto Rs 50 crores. The company targets to touch the landmark of Rs 100 crores turnover this year. Chopra said that the company deals in various products including electronics,luggage,toys,jewellery and handbags etc.
Chopra informed that AVA had strategic tie up with Air India and Jet Airways. He disclosed that negotiations were on for a tie up with Indian Railways to launch similar services abroad Shatabdi Express trains. He said that marketing mantra was quality,pricing and impulse. Comfort of shopping for gifting solutions from the aircraft seat is possibly the best and time effective solution for the last minute impulse shopping.
Vice-President of AVA,Samir Singh observed that the Company works on the concept of Shop & Collect and plans to enter into signature shoppe concept soon. AVA is contemplating to offer gifting solutions tailor made for the traveler on Delhi Metro and Airport Express Line.
