BCML Dec qtr Net dips 69%

The country’s second largest sugar company Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd reported that its net profit dipped 69 per cent to Rs 23.37 cr.

The country’s second largest sugar company Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd (BCML) today reported that its net profit dipped 69 per cent to Rs 23.37 crores for the quarter ended December 31,2010.

This is against a net profit of Rs 76.55 crore during the same period last year,the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The company’s total income in the quarter under consideration rose 21 per cent to Rs 531.51 crore as against Rs 439.48 crore in the same period last fiscal.

Shares of the company ended the day at Rs 71.10 on the BSE,down 4.18 per cent from the previous close.

BCML has nine sugar factories located in Eastern Uttar Pradesh,with an aggregate crushing capacity of 73,500 tonnes per day.

Its allied business includes manufacturing and marketing of ethyl alcohol & ethanol,generation and selling of power.
