Bihar to withdraw cases against 11 Nepal Maoists

Following the intervention of the Union Home Ministry,the Bihar government has initiated the process of withdrawing cases against 11 Nepal Maoist leaders,currently holding important positions in Nepal politics

Following the intervention of the Union Home Ministry,the Bihar government has initiated the process of withdrawing cases against 11 Nepal Maoist leaders,currently holding important positions in Nepal politics.

These leaders were arrested from Patna hotels in raids on May 2,2004 and released on bail in 2006.

A Patna court on Friday would hear the petition requesting withdrawal of cases against the Maoist leaders — Shyam Kishore Prasad Yadav,Kul Bahadur KC,Chitra Bahadur Shrestha,Lokendra Bist,Kumar Dahal,Hit Bahadur Tamang,Anil Sharma,Dilip Maharaj,Prasad Apagai,Ranju Thapa and Suman Tamang facing cases of conspiracy and anti-India activities.

Public prosecutor Jai Prakash Singh said: “As desired by MHA,we have pleaded that all these Nepal leaders are holding important positions in Nepal politics today.Withdrawal of cases against these leaders would only help strengthen out bilateral ties.”
