Bounced cheque lands man in jail

A man has been sentenced to two years RI in cheque bounce case.

A person has been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment by a local court in a cheque bounce case.

Sub-divisional judicial magistrate M Panda also directed the accused Sunil Kumar Prasad to pay Rs 5.5 lakh to the person from whom he had borrowed Rupees five lakh.

According to prosecution,Prasad had taken a friendly loan of Rs five lakh from Subash Chandra Nayak,an executive of Rourkela Steel Plant in 2004 and issued a post dated PNB cheque of Rs 4.5 lakh.

However,the cheque bounced.

Nayak filed a case against Prasad asking the court to direct the borrower to return back his loan of Rs five lakh and compensation of Rs.50,000 towards his mental harassment.
