CBSE-International syllabus launched
DUBAI/NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal,on Tuesday,launched the curriculum for CBSE-International school board launched last month,in Dubai. The CBSE-i,subscribed to by 30 schools in 9 countries,will address global needs as well as relate to local issues and culture. The curriculum has been designed keeping with the foundations of the National Curricular Framework (NCF 2005) and the Boards experiences over the past seven decades in imparting effective learning.
I&B: Ready to vet new channels proposals
NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni on Tuesday stressed upon the need to implement steps that will eliminate the practice of misusing media ownership for personal gain. Referring to the spate of proposals for fresh news channels,she said that she had written to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI),suggesting that the I&B Ministry could take up the evaluation of such proposals from the point of view of previous media experience.
12 found guilty of trade in tiger parts
ALLAHABAD: Twelve people belonging to the Pardhi community were pronounced guilty of abetting illegal trade of tiger parts by a city Court in Allahabad,on Tuesday. They have been sentenced to three-years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 each. The dozen were arrested from the residence of one Qureshi in Allahabad on December 4,2007. Three tiger skins and 75 kg bone among other wildlife articles were recovered.
Army Chief calls for outsourcing training
NEW DELHI: Army Chief General V K Singh spoke in favour of outsourcing training in the defence forces for its personnel to adopt modern civil and industrial methodologies. At a seminar on Review of Training conducted by Army Training Command in the capital,he said the Army needs to structure training to meet the challenges of contemporary and future battlefield and emphasised the need for external evaluation to ensure that it remains in a high state of readiness.
