Prajapati case: CBI questions Chudasama
AHMEDABAD: The CBI on Monday grilled suspended IPS officer Abhay Chudasama in connection with the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case. The CBI team,led by officer Vinay Kumar,questioned Chudasama in the Nadiad Sub-Jail for more than five hours. Sources said Chudasama had given details on a few top politicians who were involved in Sohrabuddin and Tulsiram encounters.
Munde kin to quit BJP due to factionalism
Mumbai: A relative of senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde announced his decision to quit the party on Monday,alleging that he was a victim of factional feuds. Dr Madhusudan Kendre,the son-in-law of Munde’s elder brother,said his defeat in the 2009 Assembly elections was engineered by elements within the BJP and the Shiv Sena.
“I was cornered as I was a relative of Munde saheb,” said Kendre,adding that he was being sidelined despite his role in building the party in Parbhani district.
Twin sisters die from pesticide fumes
PUNE: Twin sisters died of suffocation after they got their house sprayed with pesticides and slept without ventilating the poisonous fumes,police said on Monday. Usha,54,and Sandhya Nadkarni were found dead on Friday after a milkman,unable to get a response,alerted housing society members,who summoned police. Post-mortem confirmed death by suffocation and inhalation of poisonous gas,police added.
9 killed,50 hurt as bus overturns in UP
BANDA: Nine persons were killed and 50 others injured when a bus overturned and fell into a ditch in Raath area,police said on Monday. The incident occurred late Sunday night near Mahera village. Six persons were killed on the spot and three more succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
Bellary mining: SC team finds violation
BANGALORE: The Supreme Court-appointed team to study the impact of mining on environment in Karnatakas Bellary district has found violation of rules by miners. Some violations are there definitely. The District Deputy Commissioner told us that illegal mining had happened. Now it has been stopped under an order of the Supreme Court, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education director-general V K Bahuguna,who is heading the 18-member team,told reporters here.
FIR filed against 2 Forest officials
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Police have filed an FIR into the alleged incident of two Forest department employees shooting dead a man in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. The employees have claimed there was an exchange of fire and the man killed was a criminal. The family of the victim,however,has alleged that he had been killed to settle personal scores. The police lodged the FIR on the family’s complaint,but no arrest has been made so far. The accused are two employees of Gola range under South Kheri forests.
J-K custody death not due to hanging
JAMMU: The J&K Polices version that a trans-border smuggler hanged himself while in their custody has fallen flat as an interim post-mortem has ruled out death due to hanging. The body of Sarfu,52,was found hanging from a window of his cell at the police’s Joint Interrogation Centre on the morning of August 18. Sources said the postmortem report,submitted on August 25,ruled out death due to hanging (asphyxia).
