No PM for Nepal despite 12 rounds of polls for post

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Parliament failed to elect a new Prime Minister in its 12th attempt on Sunday. Ramchandra Poudel of the Nepali Congress,the lone candidate left,secured only 89 votes in his favour against 300 votes required to get elected. Speaker Subhash Chandra Nembang fixed October 26 as the next date for election.

Serb police clash with anti-gay rioters

BELGRADE: Serbia’s riot police fought on Sunday with hundreds of far-right supporters who tried to disrupt a gay pride march in Belgrade. Police officers sealed off streets where the march took place. The protesters,chanting “death to homosexuals!” hurled Molotov cocktails,bricks,stones,glass bottles and firecrackers at riot police. Belgrade emergency hospital said 57 people have been injured.

Kyrgyzstan tense as voting begins

OSH: Polls have opened in Kyrgyzstan for historic elections to choose a new,empowered Parliament that the government hopes will usher in a new era of democracy. Sunday’s vote comes after an exhausting year of political turbulence and violence in the south. Security has been tightened for the vote in the Central Asian nation to prevent any possible unrest.
