Bangladesh arrests most wanted JMB chief,4 others

DHAKA: Bangladeshs most wanted militant Saidur Rahman Zafar,chief of outlawed Jamaatul Mujahideen angladesh (JMB),has been arrested after a three-year manhunt,the police said on Tuesday. A special police task force arrested Zafar in a raid which also nabbed four other suspected JMB operatives,including outfits military wing chief Amir Hossain alias Sharif and Zafars third wife.

Police warn Iran Oppn over protest

TEHRAN: A semi-official news agency says Irans security forces have warned they will confront any Opposition protests on the anniversary of the countrys disputed June presidential election. The Ilna agency on Tuesday quoted Tehran police chief,Gen Hossein Sajedinia,as saying police will confront any illegal gathering. Irans opposition has called on supporters to mark the June 12 anniversary with massive street protests.

Iran releases filmmaker Panahi on bail: Report

TEHRAN: Iran released an internationally renowned filmmaker and Opposition supporter on bail Tuesday after more than two months in custody,state TV reported. Jafar Panahi was freed on bail of about $200,000,but the report said his indictment would be sent to a revolutionary court for future action. The decision came about a week after the 49-year-old filmmaker began a hunger strike to protest his imprisonment.
