Building fire kills 17 in Beijing
BEIJING: At least 17 people were killed in an early morning fire Monday in a four-storey building in southern Beijing,state media reported. Xinhua News Agency said 24 other people were hurt in the fire. It said the fire had been put out,but did not immediately give a cause for the blaze.
Developed carrier fighter jet: China
BEIJING: China has claimed to have developed a carrier based fighter jet called J-15 to be deployed on its first aircraft carrier,the state media said. J-15,called a heavy fighter,was unveiled by the official media here in pictures,Global Times reported. The fighter is to be stationed onboard the Chinese Varyag aircraft carrier.

500-yr-old book surfaces in US
A copy of the Nuremberg Chronicle published in 1493 is displayed in Salt Lake City. A Utah book dealer came across the 500-year-old German language edition while appraising items brought in by locals at a fundraiser. It is considered to be one of the earliest and most lavishly illustrated books produced after the invention of the printing press.
