Nepal airport shut due to grass fire

KATMANDU: A grass fire has closed Nepal’s Tribhuwan International Airport and forced flights to divert to India. The fire spread close to the runway Tuesday. There was no damage,authorities said.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will appear in parliament next month over his handling of the economy,state radio said Tuesday,after lawmakers took unprecedented action of summoning him.

Around 100 members of the 290-seat assembly signed a petition to call Ahmadinejad,in what analysts saw as part of deepening political infighting among hardline rulers before a parliamentary election on March 2. Lawmakers had threatened in the past to summon Ahmadinejad,but their attempts failed,because they were blocked by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
