Suman Mahato, the former MP who had won the Jamshedpur LS seat in the 2007 byelection on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) ticket,is this time seeking votes to strengthen the hands of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Having quit the JMM and facing a tough challenge from various corners, she is banking on Mamatas name to swing votes in her favour.
Jamshedpur is going to LS bypoll on July 1,and Suman is the lone woman candidate in the fray.
TMC does not have any representation in the Assembly, where the BJP,All Jharkhand Students Union and the JMM had been traditional rivals but now constitute the ruling coalition, with the Congress and the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha in the Opposition.
The bypoll, necessitated after BJPs Arjun Munda vacated the seat to become the CM,has turned allies into foes. During the campaigning, all six parties were seen in a battle mode.
