A case was filed against CPI leader and state Food Minister C Divakaran on Tuesday for allegedly manhandling a Congress voter who declined to vote for his party.
According to the Kollam police,Divakaran was soliciting votes from passengers at Karunagappally railway station on Tuesday. When he introduced himself to the passengers, one of them, named Sudhakaran, said he was a Congress voter and hence would not vote for the minister. The minister told him that it was his right to seek votes from all. Soon after the minister left the scene,Sudhakaran was questioned by a local group which ended up in a melee.
Police said Sudhakaran had first told them that a group of people attacked him,but deposed against the minister only. Hence,a case was registered against the minister.
