CBI grills Modi minister

The questioning took place in Gandhinagar from 9 am to 12 pm.

The CBI probing the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case questioned Gujarat Law Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja on Monday for three hours in connection with suspended SP Girish Singhal’s sting operation audio recordings. In the audio recordings,the minister and eight others are allegedly heard discussing ways to sabotage the probe.

The questioning took place in Gandhinagar from 9 am to 12 pm. Late on Monday evening,the CBI also questioned Advocate General Kamal Trivedi.

The Central agency has now summoned minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama to appear before it.

Sources in the CBI said that Jadeja was evasive and did not co-operate with the agency during the questioning. “He claimed ignorance about all the questions that were asked and did not answer any question in affirmation,” said a source in the agency. Jadeja was reportedly asked to affirm whether he was present during a meeting held at Trivedi’s office in November 2011,in which Chudasama,then junior Home minister Praful Patel,Principal Secretary to Chief Minister G C Murmu,IGP A K Sharma,suspended DSP Tarun Barot,Singhal and advocate Rohit Verma were present.

Sources said that Chudasama is likely to appear before the CBI on Tuesday or Wednesday. The CBI also called up Patel to give summons,but he reportedly did not respond to the agency.
