CBI summons Raju for further questioning

Raju was discharged from the NIMS hospital in Hyderabad last week.

The CBI,probing the multi-crore accounting scam in Satyam Computers,today issued a notice to former Chairman of the IT firm,B Ramalinga Raju asking him to appear before it tomorrow for further questioning.

Raju,the prime accused in the Satyam scam case,who was discharged from the NIMS hospital here last week after treatment for Hepatitis-C and heart problem since September last,would be grilled as part of investigation into the Satyam fraud case,a senior CBI official said.

“We have served a notice on Raju today asking him to appear before the CBI tomorrow as part of investigation into the

case. Though,he is appearing before us daily as per the bail conditions,” the CBI official said.

Sources told PTI that the questioning will revolve around the alleged fund diversion from Satyam Computers to some of the foreign countries to which the CBI has sent letters rogatory (LR) and waiting for the reply.

Raju had appeared before the CBI authorities after being discharged on Saturday last. He is required to appear before the CBI daily as per the bail conditions but was exempted from it as long as he was in hospital.

The CBI had recently filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of bail to Raju and nine other accused in the case. The apex court subsequently issued notice to Raju to file a reply before October 19.
