The Central Bureau of Investigation has refused to investigate the death of alleged terror operative Khalid Mujahid,who died on May 18 while he was escorted to a Lucknow jail after a court appearance.
The recommendation for a CBI inquiry had been sent by the state government to the Centre a day after Mujahids death. It was sent on the request of Mujahids uncle Jaheer Alam Falahi.
However,when contacted,CBI director Ranjit Sinha said the agency would not investigate Mujahids death.

Meanwhile,a dharna staged by activists demanding a CBI probe and the arrest of those named in Mujahids murder has entered its 118th day on Monday.

The activists,who have been protesting under the banner of Rihai Manch,have also demanded that the UP government table the R D Nimesh Inquiry Commission report along with Action Taken Report in the coming monsoon session of the Assembly.
On Monday,even as the UP government tabled the R D Nimesh Commission report,the protesters demanded that the Action Taken Report also be taken up. The manchs chairman,Mohammad Shoaib said that the dharna will continue till the state releases the report.
Rihai Manch was formed in June 2012 by activists demanding the release of innocent Muslims imprisoned in the name of terrorism.
Mujahid,a resident of Jaunpur,was booked along with Tariq Qasmi in connection with the serial blasts at Lucknow and Faizabad courts in 2007.

An FIR was filed after his murder against five senior police officials and 37 unidentified people including IB officials,from Barabankis Kotwali police station.
The Barabanki police who are currently investigating the case,however,have said that they have not found anything suspicious about Mujahids death. They say the postmortem and viscera reports do not support the allegations made by the complainant in the FIR. The police are recording statements of the policemen and others named in the FIR.
Two other inquires into Mujahids death are also pending. While the judicial inquiry is being conducted by the Faizabad Chief Judicial Magistrate,the other is being carried out by a team comprising ADG Power Corporation Jawed Akhtar and secretary (Home) Rakesh Kumar.
Nimesh report IN HOUSE
Lucknow: More than a year after the Nimesh Commission submitted its report on the arrest of alleged HuJI activists,the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday tabled the report in both Houses of the Assembly. In its 233-page report,Commission head Justice (retd) R D Nimesh has raised suspicion over the timing and manner in which Khalid Mujahid and Tariq Qasmi were arrested from Barabanki on December 22,2007 as well as raised suspicion over the recovery of objectionable items from them. The UP Police had claimed that nine gelatin rods,three detonators and a Nokia cellphone with SIM card were recovered from Mujahid while three detonators,RDX,a Nokia cellphone with a SIM card was found on Tariq.
