Prabhakarans elder son Charles Anthony was seriously injured while commanding a contingent of rebel forces and had undergone treatment in March ,reports had said. He was fighting the security forces alongside other prominent LTTE leaders Banu and Lakshman one of the arrested cadres had revealed.

Charles Anthony… is said to have been seriously wounded by artillery fire,while he was at Pudhukkudiyiruppu, Army sources had said. LTTE cadres took him to the no-fire zone and Prabhakarans doctor was treating him.

Prabhakaran named his eldest son after Charles Anthony,a close and loyal confidante of his,who was killed in confrontations with the Lankan Army years ago.

His son,who returned from Ireland in 2006,had a degree in aeronautical engineering and was heading the air wing and computer unit of the LTTE,according to the reports. The LTTE airforce came into prominence when it struck on the Sri Lankan military air base inside Colombos international airport in March,2007.

Prabhakaran has two more children daughter Dhuwraka and teenager son Balachandran.

The chiefs of Sri Lankan armed forces were rewarded with promotions on Monday. Army Chief Sarath Fonseka was promoted to the rank of General,Navy Chief Wasantha Karannagoda has been made Admiral and Air Force Chief Roshan Goonathilake is now an Air Chief Marshal.
