Con-men on the dance floor

Choreographer Remo D’Souza makes the starcast of Double Dhamaal dance to its title-track.

Indra Kumar’s Double Dhamaal is almost complete except for a song, which was picturised at Mehboob Studios,Mumbai, recently. The entire cast comprising Sanjay Dutt,Riteish Deshmukh,Aashish Chowdhry,Jaaved Jaaferi,Kangna Ranaut and Mallika Sherawat were part of this fast-paced hip-hop number.

Remo D’Souza, who choreographed the number, was gung-ho about the track, which went like Chal kudiye ne chal chal mere naal, tera mera milna hai double dhamaal. “It’s a Punjabi hip-hop dance number to which I have also introduced some signature moves. The song is full of fun and frolic because the actors who are con-men in the film have just cracked a big deal, and with a lot of money in their pockets, they land up in this club to do some ayyashi,” he enlightens us.

Remo wanted the song to be filmed in a very stylish manner and look like a music video. Hence the lavish sets designed like a private lounge with black and gold interiors,a lot of colourful lights that brought in the ‘bling’ quotient,a well-stocked bar, small cubicles with colourful, glittering cushions and a dance floor. The actors too are attired in slinky clothes that include a lot of black and shimmer.

“It will be shot over four days. The actors have picked up the steps very well but I am amazed by Sanjay’s energy. I think he’s performing better than anyone else,” he says with a smile.

According to the choregrapher, this song is not an item number that can be compared with Munni or Sheila. “They were female-oriented,whereas this peppy song has elements like bold dance steps and revealing costumes. I would say that it falls in the Party abhi baaqi hai category from F.A.L.TU. ”

The title-track a is four-minute song composed and sung by Anand Raj Anand. The film releases on June 24.
