Cops seek arrest of J Dey accused in killing of Dawood brothers driver

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch moved an application before the Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act Court.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Friday moved an application before the Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Court, seeking the arrest of alleged Chhota Rajan aide Paulson Joseph for the May 17 murder of Arif Syed Abu Bakr the driver-cum-bodyguard of Dawood Ibrahims brother Iqbal Kaskar on Pakmodia Street.

Joseph was arrested by the Crime Branch on September 6 for his alleged role in the murder of investigative journalist J Dey. The police had claimed that Joseph had given logistical support to killers and helped them in their plan by arranging different items such as global roaming SIM cards.

Police said Joseph had provided similar help to Shaikh Umed-ur-Rehman Ishrat Hussain, one of the seven arrested in Pakmodia Street murder case. We are going to arrest Joseph for the Pakmodia Street murder as well. He had provided a global roaming SIM card to Umed, who then used it to communicate with Chhota Rajan, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy said.

A Crime Branch officer said calls made from global roaming SIM cards cannot be traced to a particular location. These cards are freely available in Dubai.
