The special court (vigilance) on Wednesday directed Jharkhands Vigilance Bureau to register FIRs against former chief minister Madhu Koda and three former ministers Kamlesh Singh,Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Bandhu Tirkey. The court asked the Vigilance Bureau to probe a complaint on how
these politicians have amassed wealth and property disproportionate to their known source of income.
Responding to a complaint filed by one Rajiv Kumar,Judge V K Khan ordered: Register an FIR at the Vigilance Police Station and inquire into the complaint.
Kumar had said in his petition that Koda had allegedly misused his authority to invest crores of rupees abroad through his two friends,Vinod Sinha and Sanjay Choudhary. While Choudhary is a Jamshedpur-based businessman,Sinha is a Chaibasa-based trader. Choudhary was caught with Rs 6.14 lakh in his bag,in both Indian and foreign currencies,at Mumbai airport on September 17 last year.
Singh,a Nationalist Congress Party MLA,Shahi,an Independent MLA from Bhavnathpur,Tirkey,an Independent MLA from
Mander,have made crores of rupees worth property each,alleged Kumar. Since the day I filed the petition,I have been receiving threats. he added.
The Vigilance Bureau will register FIRs against them under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code,including 406 (criminal breach of trust),409 (misappropriation and defalcation),423 (concealing property),420 (cheating for gain) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
