Covering Chiranjeevi actor-turned-leader

Actor-turned-leader K Chiranjeevi seems to be feeling a need for a media house.

K Chiranjeevi seems to be feeling a need for a media house. Painfully aware that he and his Praja Rajya Party are not being covered well enough,he has reportedly zeroed in on a defunct news agency that can be put into operation as a news channel, provided he gets the permission. All his rivals have news channels and newspapers. K Chandrasekhara Rao has Raj News,a 24-hour news channel dedicated mainly to the Telangana issue; Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has Sakshi channel and a Telugu daily; N Chandrababu Naidu backs Andhra Jyothi and ABN news channel.

PAYING FOR A ‘THREAT’
Additional DGP (Sports) Tejdeep Kaur Menon is in the dock for allegedly beating up and threatening a couple working as domestic helps. In August 2002,she allegedly entered the home of Mohammed Khadeer and Harita, taking a gunman along, and accused them of theft. Later, however, the valuables supposedly stolen were found elsewhere. The couple complained to the police and later the National Human Rights Commission, which directed the government to pay interim relief of Rs 4 lakh to the couple. The police deposited the money within two days of receiving the order.

ANOTHER ‘THREAT’,another rap
Yet another senior IAS officer in the dock for making threats is principal secretary (IT) K Ratna Prabha. She has allegedly been threatening a woman over a land dispute near her village in Kanigiri. The woman alleged that Ratna Prabha had been asking her to vacate a farmhouse and had been threatening her over phone and with text messages. The woman filed a petition seeking protection, based on which a district court in Prakasam directed the police on Friday to register a case against the officer. Ratna Prabha has denied making threats.

FAMILY POLITICS
Narareddi Rajashekhara Reddy, techie and son-in-law of Y S Rajashekhara Reddy’s brother Y S Vivekananda Reddy, will enter politics,it is widely believed. He is founder-director of a software company in Hyderabad. Rumours are that the split between Jagan Mohan and his uncle Y S V Reddy may provide an opportunity to the son-in-law to enter politics. The Congress may field him against Jagan Mohan in Kadapa Lok Sabha seat,or against whoever contests from Pulivendula Assembly constituency that was vacated by Jagan Mohan’s mother Vijaya Lakshmi.
