Two days after he wrote to President Pratibha Patil seeking death-by-wish over price rise,Madhya Pradesh BJP president Prabhat Jha has come under fire from an unforeseen quarter, ally Janata Dal (United). Govind Yadav,JD(U) state president, has appealed to the President to disqualify Jha from the Rajya Sabha.
Jhas request to the President for a death-by-wish is an indicator of his mental health, Yadav said. This, according to him, warrants the constitution of a medical board under Section 102(1) of the Constitution, which says a person shall be disqualified for being chosen as,and for being,a member of either House of Parliament if he is of unsound mind and stands so declared by a competent board. The next Section,103(1) says that if any question arises as to whether a member of either House of Parliament has become subject to any of the disqualifications mentioned in 102(1) of the Constitution, the question shall be referred for decision of the President and his decision shall be final.
Elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2008,Jha is half way through his six-year term.
