DePuy sets up research and training centre in Chennai

DePuy,a Johnson & Johnson group firm,launched a new research and training centre in India.

DePuy,a Johnson & Johnson group firm,launched a new research and training centre in India.

The company said ‘DePuy Institute for Advanced Education and Research’ will be a hub for education training and research on non-surgical early intervention to complex surgery,including orthopaedics,spinal care and sports medicine.

“This Institute will expand the pool of trained surgeons to cater to the unmet needs of several thousands of patients in India. This initiative will improve access to top class medical care,” Johnson & Johnson Medical Asia-Pacific Company Group Chairman Michael del Prado said in a statement.

Located in Chennai,the new 30,000 square-foot facility will offer year-round educational programmes on concepts,techniques and technologies in minimally invasive surgery,ageing spine,deformity,neurological disease,among others.

More than 1,000 health care and sales professionals are expected to participate in around 100 programs during the Institute’s inaugural year,the company said.

DePuy is one of the world’s largest orthopaedic and neuroscience device companies.
