The BSP Sunday urged Governor B L Joshi to dismiss the Akhilesh Yadav government and recommend imposition of Presidents rule in UP in the wake of the communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar and the administrations inability to maintain law and order there.
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Swami Prasad Maurya said ever since the SP formed government, the state has been facing communal riots every now and then with the administration remaining a mute spectator. Had the government handled the matter of three murders in the Muzaffarnagar clash on August 27 with sensitivity, the current situation would have been averted, he said.
Maurya said as many as 18 people have been killed so far, hundreds are injured and many have gone missing.
He said it is the height of governments insensitivity that it has not fixed responsibility on any officer for the riots.
Maurya said the Governor should recommend imposition of Presidents rule in UP and also give directions to form a high-level committee to fix accountability of officers for the communal clash and dismiss those found guilty.
BSP general secretary Naseemuddin Siddiqui said: Why are riots taking place in the SP government? There was no such incident during the BSP government. But the government is not serious. In fact it is working with various groups to disturb communal harmony.
