Jyotipriya Mallick, the Trinamool Congress Minister for Food and Supplies, said on Tuesday that media had distorted his comments regarding “social boycott of CPM supporters”. He clarified that he had never asked party workers not to marry into CPM workers’ families.

“I will never speak with the media. I never said that TMC workers cannot enter into any marital relationship with a CPM family. I only said one should not attend any marriage invitation from a CPM family. And I have asked them to hate the CPM. That is the declared policy of TMC. And there is nothing new in it,” said Mallick.

The statement in question had been made at a meeting addressed by Mallick at Saptagram village last week. “No camera was present there and that is why there was scope for distortion of my comments. I never asked them to take revenge. The revenge I talked about is political revenge. And I am not repentant,” he said.
