Emami Q4 net profit up 44 pct

Kolkata-based FMCG major Emami today reported a 44 per cent jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 39.41 crore in the quarter-ended March 31,2010.

Kolkata-based FMCG major Emami today reported a 44 per cent jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 39.41 crore in the quarter-ended March 31,2010.

The company had a net profit of Rs 27.2 crore in the quarter-ended in March 31,2009.

“Emami has recorded substantial growth from its power brands like Fair and Handsome,Boroplus Antiseptic Cream,Navratna Oil,Zandu and Menthoplus Balm and other products,” the firm said in statement.

During the quarter,the company’s net sales jumped by 20 per cent to Rs 280 crore compared to the same period in the previous fiscal.

The firm said revenue from its international business during the quarter stood at Rs 45 crore,registering a growth of 43.9 per cent over the same period previous fiscal.

In the year-ended March 31,2010,the company had a nearly two-fold jump in its consolidated net profit of Rs 169.7 crore from Rs 91.75 crore recorded in the year ago period.

During the period,Emami had a net sales of Rs 1,037.9 crore against Rs 766 crore posted in FY’09.

Besides,exports contributed Rs 133 crore to its overall sales. It grew by 36 per cent over the same period previous fiscal,the company added.

“While development of new products and new markets continues,thrust is being put on increasing distribution and penetration in existing markets and to develop global brands,” it added.

At present,Emami exports its product in the Middle East,CIS,SAARC countries and African nations.
