EU disappointed with Nepal PM Bhattarai

Mission Chiefs of European Union chose not to conceal their disappointment with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai

Mission Chiefs of European Union on Wednesday chose not to conceal their disappointment with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and asked President Ram Baran Yadav to act as “guardian” of the constitution and encourage all sides of political spectrum to come together to bring about political stability and order in the country.

A delegation of the European Union that met President Ram Baran Yadav, the first such meeting after the Constituent assembly’s dissolution, told

the President that only his initiative as a guardian of the constitution may salvage the country at this stage.

“They (EU delegates) were

clear that a Prime Minister who had the responsibility to bring the political parties together was still blaming the other parties during his interaction with the external heads of the mission. This will derail the possibility of consensus under his leadership,” a highly placed source said.
