The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Banda has ordered attachment of the property of former BJP MP Prakash Narayan Tripathi after he failed to appear in court in a 1994 case in which he is charged with committing atrocities on members of Scheduled Castes. Tripathi neither honoured the summons against him,nor was the police able to trace him over the past 14 years.
However,Tripathi, who has since joined the SP,was campaigning in Banda where voting was held on April 23. He even organised and addressed public meetings for SP candidate R K Patel.
It is unfortunate that we could not trace him for the past 14 years, said Chitrakoot DIG K K Tripathi, confirming that orders for attachment of the former MPs property had been issued by court.
