Explosive haul: Police looking for sacked cop

The J&K Police are looking for a former special police officer (SPO) who allegedly sent explosives in apple boxes to Jammu from Doda district late Friday evening.

The seized substances — around 50 kg ammonia nitrate,urea,plastic explosives,detonators and wires — were concealed in five boxes of apples,sources said. The SPO,Mehboob Dar,has been dismissed from service.

The boxes were allegedly dropped by Munir Ahmed Malik alias Munna of Drodhi in Doda in a TATA Sumo and were to be picked up by another militant who did not turn up.

The intelligence sleuths,who were keeping an eye on the area after a tip off,chased the Sumo and arrested Munna,who led them to the other militant,Munib Ahmed of Gandoh.
