When Sanjay Leela Bhansali offered Farah Khan the female lead in his Shirin Farhad,to be directed by his sister,Bela Segal, the choreographer was astonished. The choreographer-turned-director,who had made a special appearance in Khichdi, never imagined that she would land the role of the main lead in a film. I thought Sanjay was joking, but he convinced me that he wrote the script with me in mind. It is yet to sink in though,it is two months since I was offered the role, said Khan.
Though the brother-sister pair is confident of her abilities as an actor and are sure she will be able to pull off the role of Shirin,a Parsi lady,Farah is jittery about facing the camera. It is a slice of life,a very sweet, emotional story of a Parsi couple Shirin and Farhad. I am very excited because I am half-Parsi. It will be fun to get back to my roots and Im nervous whether I can pull it off, said Farah, who will be soon going into the prep mode, which requires her to do workshops to get the Parsi accent and mannerisms right.
Though her role does not require it,she wants to lose at least 10 kilos so that she looks good on screen.
Presently helping out hubby Shirish Kunder with his directorial venture Joker,Farah is looking forward to trying out what she says is something she is attempting after 20 years in the industry.
