This Saturday morning will not begin on a different note for UP Chief Minister Mayawati. January 15 may be her 55th birthday but those close to her say that she would start it with her usual routine of speaking on the telephone to party functionaries across the country, getting information and feedback from their area.
Mayawati usually wakes up around 5 am and takes a stroll inside her official residence. After a cup of lemon tea,she reads newspapers, said an official. She then goes through the points jotted down in her notebook and decides who all to speak to on the phone. This routine will be maintained on Saturday as well, a source said.
Since it is not possible even for party coordinators, whom she trusts the most,to contact her
directly on the phone, they usually leave their good wishes with her office which are dutifully conveyed.
By 8 am,the telephone calls are over. Officials posted at her residence start arriving by 9 am and the normal activity begins.
In all probability, the Officers on Special Duty will be the first to wish her a happy birthday, said an official.
There is little likelihood of her receiving visitors who may like to call on her with bouquets and good wishes,or cutting a cake at her residence,as in the past. Instead, the birthday celebration will be held at Dr B R Ambedkar Auditorium in Ashiana which she would dedicate to the people at 10 am. It is here that Mayawati would cut a cake and receive bouquets.
Also at the auditorium,Mayawati will inaugurate 186 projects. The commemorative stones will all be stacked together, covered with a curtain, and she will press a button to unveil these. The stones will later be carried to their places for installation.
Mayawati will deliver a prepared speech, which will last 20 minutes and the draft of which she has already cleared.
Next,Mayawati will go to Bharwara by helicopter to inaugurate Asias largest sewage treatment plant at 12:30 pm. Sources said there are no official engagements later in the day but, like in the past, she may go to Delhi to spend the evening with her family.
