Forgery: CVC probe against railway dept

Censuring Northern Railways for pursuing a case based on prima facie forged documents,Delhi High Court directed Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to carry out a probe against the concerned department and the officers involved.

“It is distressing to note that a senior Railways officer attested documents enclosed with review petition without verifying whether these are true copies of their respective originals,” said Justice S Muralidhar and directed CVC to complete the probe within three months.

The court was hearing a petition filed by one Arun Kumar Gupta,seeking extension of lease granted to him to operate Second-class Luggage Rack to carry parcels in Gomti Express between New Delhi and Lucknow.
