From a queen to a tribal

Ulka Gupta,who played the young Rani Laxmibai on Zee TV’s Jhansi Ki Rani,is back on the show,but this time as Kaali. Talking about her new role,she says,“I play Kaali,an extremely wild and aggressive warrior. She is an adivasi who is trained by her grandmother and uses swords to fight.” Her role is introduced to help Rani to fight against the British. The actress feels nostalgic on the sets,especially when she is in the same make-up room where she used to dress up as the younger Rani earlier. She also misses wearing the elegant saris and gold jewellery and moving around on horses. Now,Ulka has a different look as Kaali and is seen in simple yet colourful clothes and junk jewellery.
