For nearly 25 years,Oprah Winfrey has been ruling America’s popular culture, people’s imagination and TV viewing time with her day-time chat show,The Oprah Winfrey Show. It uniquely put out a powerhouse of emotions showcasing her blend of homespun wisdom, intelligent chatter and a wry sense of humour. Oprah’s show didn’t just make Americans reflect on their lives,it raked in a cult following across the world. Born to an unmarried mother in Mississippi,Oprah put hard times behind her to become not just a billionaire but one of the most influential celebrities in the world. Her clout wasn’t limited to the entertainment industry –– she crossed the boundary to become a person respected by politicians and the American civil society alike. Going to her show became clout itself.

Now that the curtains will come down on what’s easily the most watched relationship show on earth,A-list Hollywood stars including Tom Cruise,Madonna,Will Smith and Jerry Seinfeld turned up for the yet-to-be-aired episodes. The closing episode on May 25,however,was low- key as it featured Oprah speaking to her global audience. Oprah will return to the small screen, but only on (Oprah Winfrey Network) OWN later.
