Govt should have gone for statute amendment for sub-quota: Nitish

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the Congress-led UPA government should have sought to amend the Constitution to make provision for 4.5 per cent sub-quota for minorities in reservation of 27 per cent seats for the OBCs in the educational institutions and government jobs

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said the Congress-led UPA government should have sought to amend the Constitution to make provision for 4.5 per cent sub-quota for minorities in reservation of 27 per cent seats for the OBCs in the educational institutions and government jobs.

He was replying to questions regarding the Supreme Court’s refusal to stay the Andhra Pradesh High Court order.

The UPA government adopted “wrong means” to provide for 4.5 per cent sub-quota for the minorities in 27 per cent OBC reservation,the Chief Minister said.
